About

IRWIN

The Irwin School of Irish Dancing is one of Calgary’s most experienced and established Irish Dancing schools.  First opened by Finnuala Irwin in 1985, the school has since expanded to include more teachers, including her daughters and former students.

The dancing academy has produced many World and National championship solo and Ceili dancers, including a number of World Championship solo medal holders and National Ceili and solo champions.  Students of the school have gone on to perform in internationally acclaimed shows such as Riverdance, Lord of the Dance and Trinity.

The studio is located in southeast Calgary with classes for children ages 5 and up.  Students of the Irwin School of Irish Dancing learn both hard and soft shoe dances, solo and ceili team dances.  At the Irwin School, children train to dance for competitions and performances.  The Irwin School dancers are frequently booked to perform shows that have included everything from weddings to the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.
