The students of the Irwin School of Irish Dancing are hard working, dedicated to competing, and have a passion for the cultural and artistic qualities of Irish dancing. They value the teamwork and the friendships they develop with the many other boys and girls who share their passion for dance.
Our students range in age from 5 to 25 years old and include both boys and girls. First time dancers in our beginner classes typically range in age from 5 to 12 years of age. The Irwin School of Irish Dancing is a competitive school and dancers are expected to compete in Feisanna (competitions), usually after dancing with the academy for at least one year.
Our dancer's experience levels ranges from beginner to advanced beginner, novice, prize-winner, preliminary and open levels. However beginner adult classes are not available. Students of the Irwin School will learn both hard and soft shoe dances, solo and ceili team dances. The children will train to dance for both competitions and performances. Dancers will typically attend one to three lessons a week, depending upon their experience level.
