What should my child wear to lessons?
Attire for students includes shorts/track pants/yoga pants and t-shirts/tank tops/sweatshirts. However, jeans, cut-offs and denim skirts are not allowed. For brand new beginners, children may wear running shoes initially. As your child advances you will want to purchase proper Irish Dancing shoes. There is no food allowed at the studio however dancers are encouraged to bring a water bottle with them.
What is the class schedule for the year?
We run classes from the beginning of September until the end of June. Registration is typically the first Wednesday after the long weekend in September.
What age should my child start Irish Dancing?
Typically children do not start Irish Dancing until they are at least 5 years of age
When should I buy hard shoes for my child?
When the child is proficient in their first hard shoe dance the teacher will advise the parent directly.
When does my child start competing?
Usually after the first year of dancing with the academy, however this may vary depending upon the child. Please ask the teacher directly.
Do you teach adult classes?
We do not teach adult classes. We only run classes for children ages 5 and up.
What is a TCRG?
This is the qualification required by An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in Ireland (Irish Dancing Commission) for teachers who wish to enter students in registered Irish dancing competitions.
How many lessons a week will my child attend?
Competitive students are required to dance a minimum of twice a week after the first year. First year students typically attend one lesson a week.
